The Sandown 500 ended in disappointment after a hard-fought race and strong performances from all four drivers. Brodie made an impressive start, quickly moving up to P3, while Jack dropped a couple of places off the start to P20. By Lap 10, Kostecki was up to P2, and Jan had improved to P18.
Following a safety car, Todd took over for Brodie, rejoining in P4, while Jayden replaced Jack. Todd put in a strong drive, battling Whincup for P3, but following an overtake on the T8 car, heartbreak struck as he ran wide, suffered a puncture and narrowly avoided the wall, forcing an unscheduled pit stop.
Despite a 15-second penalty for a pit lane infringement, Brodie fought back to P5, while Jack reached P4. Brodie and Todd’s day would come to a sudden end however with a power failure, and Jack had contact with Matt Payne in turn 5, leaving him with nowhere to go into the wall. Forced to stop again, he dropped to P20 where he would finish the time certain race.
After an incredible effort from all drivers and our crew, the team now turns its attention to the main event. The Sandown 500 is traditionally the warm-up for the Great Race, and now we’ll set our sights on the one we all really want: the Bathurst 1000.
