Erebus Motorsport have scored another top ten at Queensland Raceway today, after a disappointing start to their day.

The morning started with 20-minutes on the clock for qualifying, but an oil pressure warning hindered Reynolds’ rhythm and placed him 15^th.

Starting from the eighth row, Reynolds made a strong getaway and moved up to 12^th by the end of the opening lap.

He dropped down to 13^th shortly after and stayed there until his pit stop on lap 17.

A long middle stint meant the #9 driver wouldn’t pit again until the end of lap 42, running the Erebus Commodore to the end of its fuel load.

A Safety Car with just twelve laps to go would spice things up for a sprint to the end; Reynolds moving up three spots to cross the line an impressive ninth.

Teammate Dale Wood’s day didn’t go as swimmingly, with the #99 driver set to start the 65-lapper from 25^th place.

A difficult start saw Wood drop down the order to 27^th in the opening laps, before opting to pit ahead of the field, as early as lap seven.

He pit for a second time on lap 29, before his day was stopped short.

The #99 Commodore suffered an electrical drama which saw him retire to the pits and ultimate finish his day 27^th.

The team will be back on track for the next round of the Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park, August 18 – 20.

David Reynolds – #9 Erebus Penrite Racing
“It wasn’t a bad weekend considering it’s Queensland Raceway, and we haven’t had the best results here in the past. Today we expected good things from qualifying, based off our general car pace in practice, but we ended up worse than we did yesterday. We qualified 15^th and had a bit of a scrappy session, had a few alarms going off and sensors fail so that cut our qualifying session short. We still managed to get two tyre runs in but they weren’t as planned as would have liked.

“We got a good start in the race, and the first two stints were okay but I was chewing my left-front tyre quite bad, so then Al made a little change in the stop for the last stint and had a much faster car in the last stint. The Safety Car came out and helped me, I picked up a couple spots after that through good pace and good passing and ended up ninth, so all in all it wasn’t too bad a day. Two top tens’ is still a good result.”

Dale Wood – #99 Erebus GB Galvanizing Racing
“Another tough day at the office today; I thought we had a good car yesterday in both qualifying in the race but we probably went backwards a bit today. I think Dave and I both felt the same and the car lacked grip. The track was fast but we didn’t go any faster so that hurt us a bit.

“I think our strategy was potentially good, it was a lot of different to a lot of other people, we ran long in that middle stint which was good initially and hard towards the end but I felt like I would have gained a few spots. Unfortunately, the wiring system to the fuel pump caught on fire and that was the end of our day.”
