Erebus Motorsport’s Bonnie Beard has joined team owner Betty Klimenko as a Dare To Be Different (D2BD) ambassador, inspiring future generations of young girls.
Established by former Williams Formula 1 test driver Susie Wolff, Dare To Be Different aims to inspire and increase female involvement in all aspects of motorsport.
Bonnie, who works fulltime as one of the team’s mechanics, has extensive experience in motorsport and is passionate about the program.
“It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of the Dare 2 Be Different campaign,” she said.
“I hope that the hard work of all the current females in this industry paves the way for the future and inspires young females from all around.”
Bonnie started with the team in 2015 working on their ute program, before moving over to the team’s GT outfit and eventually landing a role in Supercars.
She is one of the global ambassadors hoping to change the preconceptions of the male-dominated sport by increasing participation of women to spark change.
“Everyone is capable, they just need to be allowed to show their potential and that is what this campaign is doing,” Bonnie said.
In September this year, Bonnie also attended the first ever Dare To Be Different event in Melbourne.
“It was fantastic to welcome some potential future stars and show them what we do,” she said.
“The girls were really engaged, and it was great to see them so excited to be there and participate.”
