Boost Mobile Racing powered by Erebus’ Brodie Kostecki has gone two better on the streets of Surfers Paradise today, securing 5^th in Race 32 at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

Teammate Will Brown was as high as 8^th, though a late race penalty saw him drop to 12^th after the checkered flag.

At the start, Brodie got away well from 6^th, though it was Will who go the flyer of a start and jumped up two spots to 12^th before the first chicane.

The #99 driver got by Scott Pye at the beach chicane on lap 2, before a big crash the next lap.

Will got through relatively unscathed, with only damage to his front bar, though it wasn’t the same story for almost half the field.James Golding collected the tyre bundle on his way through the back section and moved it onto the circuit, Will clipping it on the way through.

It caused only minor damage to the front of the #9, though almost half the field didn’t make it through and got caught up in the pile up.

The incident caused a red flag and cars parked up on the grid for around 30-minutes while cars were collected from the carnage.

Racing went green again on lap 8 and it was one lap later that Will took his first Compulsory Pit Stop from P10 now, for fuel and tyres.

Brodie stopped on lap 26 for a large load of fuel, coming out behind Will.

It wasn’t until lap 60 that the field had completed their second stop and settled, Brodie now P6 and Will P12.

Thomas Randle’s car stopped on track with 15 to go and bunched the field up for the final run home.

Brodie used it and got past Cam Waters for 5^th with 4 laps to go, while on the same lap Will got into trouble with Pye.

Will pulled up behind Pye as the went into the final corner, though a light tap sent the #20 into the wall, and though the contact was unavoidable it ultimately handed Will a 15-second time penalty after the flag. The punishment dropped Will to P12 at the end.

The team now have just over one month until season finale at the Adelaide 500, December 1 – 4.
