Local hero Brodie Kostecki continued his impressive run this season by clinching his 6th podium out of 7 races, securing 2nd in an exhilarating Race 7 in Perth this afternoon.
Brodie dominated the race by leading most of the way, beating Shane van Gisbergen to turn 1 and taking the lead after a great start from the front row.
Meanwhile, Will Brown, who started from P22, also put up a great performance, making up a couple of spots early on and quickly moving inside the top 20.
On lap 17, as the battle between Brodie and van Gisbergen heated up, Kostecki made his compulsory pit stop and replaced his two left-hand tyres.
Will followed suit on lap 23 and had a quick pit stop, which dropped him into a comfortable position with clear air for the run home.
By lap 29, Brodie had reclaimed the lead after the final stops cycled through. However, van Gisbergen appeared with just four laps to go, armed with 10-lap fresher tyres.
Despite the pressure, Brodie held on to the lead until the penultimate lap when van Gisbergen finally got by after plenty of contact and pushing the #99 out of the way.
Kostecki crossed the finish line in 2nd, extending his championship lead to 76 points.
Will put up a commendable recovery after qualifying and managed to secure a good points haul in 16th place, which helps the team’s championship where Erebus remain on top.
The final day of action kicks off with back-to-back qualifying tomorrow from 9:15am local time, followed by two races in the afternoon.
