Erebus Motorsport driver Brodie Kostecki has confirmed he will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut next month.

Kostecki’s NASCAR Cup debut will come the only time each year that IndyCar and NASCAR combine their series at one racetrack.

The 25-year-old will race in the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard, at the Indianapolis Road Course on August 13.

Kostecki, who currently sits only 7-points behind his teammate in second in the Driver’s standings, will race the Richard Childress Racing MobileX No.33 Camaro.

“I am thrilled to be making my NASCAR Cup debut at the Brickyard,” Kostecki said.

“It’s an honour to compete at such an iconic venue and against some of the biggest names in motorsport.

“I’m incredibly grateful to RCR for giving me this opportunity and I’m determined to make the most of it.”

Kostecki has been long linked to a NASCAR cameo, having revealed intentions last year before talks started with Richard Childress Racing & his manager Nathan Cayzer in April.

It is part of a growing relationship between Erebus and RCR, forged through Image Racing’s Terry Wyhoon.

Most recently, Kostecki, along with his manager and teammates – driver Will Brown and Erebus race engineers George Commins and Tom Moore – paid a visit to the NASCAR heavyweights in the United States last month.

Kostecki’s ties to NASCAR run deeper still, having done a stint in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series throughout 2013 and 2014 – securing two poles, one track record and one top five finish across 14 races.

“Racing is at the core of everything I do, and NASCAR has been a lifelong goal of mine after spending years growing up in the sports heartland in North Carolina

“It’s a whole different world over there and any additional time I can spend racing is only going to help me try and win my first Supercars Championship.

“We got some great exposure to the inner sanctum of the team during our recent trip, and I cannot wait to immerse myself in the team, this time as a Cup Series driver.

Erebus CEO Barry Ryan says he has always encouraged Kostecki to “race as much as he can”.

“We have always encouraged Brodie’s pursuit of more racing opportunities,” Ryan said.

“Providing him with the chance to explore and excel in various racing disciplines not only enhances his skills but also contributes to the overall growth and success of our team.”

Kostecki will head to Charlotte after the upcoming Sydney SuperSprint before racing in Indianapolis.

Kostecki will make his NASCAR Cup debut a week out from the OTR SuperSprint alongside RCR regulars Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon.
