Erebus Motorsport has unveiled a nostalgic throwback livery for Brodie Kostecki inspired by its Mercedes entries from a decade ago.
Aligning with the launch of its 10-year anniversary book, “From Challengers to Champions” by the team from V8 Sleuth, the blue on black design takes cues from one of team owner Betty Klimenko’s favourite liveries: the Mercedes E63 livery of 2014, driven by Will Davison and Lee Holdsworth.
Originally inspired by the sci-fi movie Tron, the design was reimagined to fit the body lines of the GEN3 Camaro and now features one special touch that was not present in 2014: the #1 on both doors and bonnet.
“We wanted to do something to mark Brodie’s return but the timeline leading up to Taupo was difficult and as we head to Darwin next, Perth presented the ideal opportunity,” CEO Barry Ryan explained.
“Reflecting on some of the team’s past liveries while we were working on the book, the 2014 car remains one of Betty’s favourites.”
The SS Signs team accepted the challenge, revamping the original design to complement the Camaro using Orafol wrap, but it is the addition to the design that is impossible to miss.
“The #1 on the door is something we know Supercars fans have all been saying they want to see and with Perth being Brodie’s home round there couldn’t be a better place to run this car.”
The team’s partners supported the concept from ideation to completion, contributing to the creation of a visually stunning race car but with a hint of a Supercars era gone by.
“A big thanks to all of our partners for their continued support and we’re looking forward to what is set to be a big weekend in the west.”
