Erebus Motorsport is excited to welcome back a beloved name to Australian motorsport as Chiko joins the team for the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000. The #1 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood, will proudly display Chiko branding, evoking memories of some of the sport’s most recognisable liveries.
Chiko’s connection with motorsport runs deep, a fusion of Australian heritage and the nation’s passion for racing. This bond is significant for Erebus Motorsport as CEO Barry Ryan played a key role in the Ryan McLeod / Wayne Wakefield Chiko car project during the 2000 Bathurst campaign. Now, years later, Ryan sees the renewed partnership as a full-circle moment, further cementing Chiko’s legacy in Australian motorsport.
“Having worked on the McLeod/Wakefield Chiko car, it’s fantastic to see Chiko back at Bathurst, this time with Erebus. The brand is part of our motorsport culture, and we’re thrilled to bring it back to the Mountain,” Ryan said.
“24 years on, we’re excited to see the Chiko partnership come together again. We can’t wait to unveil the livery for the #1 car at the Mountain, Brodie is returning to Bathurst as a man on a mission and Todd is such an incredibly strong co-driver to have as part of our team,” Ryan said.
Brodie Kostecki echoed the excitement: “It’s really cool to have a legendary brand like Chiko on the car for Bathurst. It’s a race with so much history, and to be driving with the Chiko livery is pretty special. Todd and I are ready to make it one to remember.”
Todd Hazelwood added, “Bathurst isn’t just home to the great race; it’s also home to the Chiko Roll. To see Chiko return to the Mountain feels like a homecoming for both the brand and the fans. Brodie and I are honoured to carry such a legendary part of Aussie culture into this year’s race, and we’re ready to give it everything we’ve got.”
Katie Saunders, Senior Director of Marketing, APAC, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration.
“We are thrilled to announce our exciting new partnership with Erebus Motorsport at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000. Our iconic brand, Chiko, known for its rich history in Aussie culture, is joining forces with the dynamic and high-performing Erebus Motorsport team. This collaboration is set to create an unforgettable experience for fans, both in the stands and on the track.”
Fans trackside should keep an eye out for Kostecki and Hazelwood who will make appearances at Chiko’s activation in Harris Park across the weekend, while the livery for Car 1 is set to be unveiled on the morning of Wednesday 9 October at the Mount Panorama circuit.
