Erebus Motorsport will honour ANZAC Day early, their cars wearing a special tribute this weekend at the Phillip Island 500.

The poppy features on the rear of David Reynolds and Dale Wood’s Holden’s, complimented by a silhouette of diggers from the Gallipoli landing.

“Lest We Forget” also occupies the space, paying homage to the ANZAC legend.

“ANZAC Day doesn’t only mean ANZAC biscuits, it’s about recognising the people who have served Australia and New Zealand,” Reynolds said.

“There is always so much emotion surrounding the day and what it represents.”

Wood said he was proud to carry the graphic on his Commodore.

“It’s always important to remember those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” he said.

“I don’t think there is a single person in Australia that it doesn’t mean something to.

“We’re lucky enough to enjoy the life we do and we wouldn’t be able to if it wasn’t for those who served, so we have a lot to be thankful for.”

As part of the occasion, Erebus Motorsport’s Betty and Daniel Klimenko, and Barry Ryan will attend the School of Artillery’s Dawn Service this Tuesday in Puckapunyal.

“I try to get to ANZAC services whenever I can and it’s a big part of being Australian, and it’s something we get to share with our New Zealand neighbours,” Klimenko said.

“We are very honoured to have been invited to lay a wreath during Tuesday’s service and it’s going to be extremely special.”

The Dawn Service will commence at 5:40am in the Bridges Barracks.

The Erebus Commodore’s will be on track today from 12:45pm for qualifying, ahead of the 250-kilometre mini-marathon.
