Co-drivers Luke Youlden and Chris Pither have turned laps during the dedicate co-driver session this morning at Winton Motor Raceway.
Pither’s laps marked his first in the Erebus Commodore, settling into his new car despite very wet conditions.
“It’s the first time I’ve been in a Supercar since last year so it was pretty exciting to get back in the seat and today’s session was all about getting familiar with the car,” Pither said.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t get many laps; we sat tight in the garage for quite a while to see if he rain was going to ease which it didn’t.
“It was still good to get a couple (laps) and familiarise myself with the controls, the dash layout and different things, so it was well worth-while.
“We didn’t complete enough laps to get the tyres into their operating window but it was overall productive and I’m looking forward to getting in the car on a dry day.”
Youlden enjoyed his second taste of the #9 Holden, after joining the team at Sydney Motorsport Park in February.
“It’s always good to get laps; we thought the rain would be almost a waste of time to get much out of it but the car was quick straight out the box,” Youlden said.
“I kept the leaning on it a little bit harder and the car was good so I’m happy.”
The #9 driver hovered around the top of the timesheets, before finishing the session fourth fastest.
Winton is one of only two events with a dedicated 30-minute session for the co-drivers, which precedes Practice 1 later today.
