Erebus Motorsport will hit Winton Motor Raceway next week, giving Anton de Pasquale a run of their #9 Holden Commodore.
The day will serve as a driver evaluation for the open-wheeler ace, who took out the Australian Formula Ford Championship in 2013, before heading to Europe and winning the Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Championship.
He is now in his second year in the Dunlop Super2 Series, and sits fourth in the Championship.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn, understand what it takes, and at the same time get some really good miles in a competitive car,” de Pasquale said.
“The only way to learn is to surround yourself with people who know more and have more experience; just having that opportunity to work with a team who is lot larger and has more resources will be really beneficial, but also seeing what the top-level driver does.
“It’s invaluable experience for myself moving forward and will really help me understand how I can do better.”
Having always kept an eye on young talent across a number of different categories, General Manager Barry Ryan is excited to hand over the reins.
“Erebus has always strived to support young guys and enjoyed watching their development,” he said.
“Paul (Morris) is a big supporter of Anton’s and has told me he believes he’s the ‘real deal’, which has a lot of weight coming from someone as experienced as Paul.
“To achieve what he has at only 21, there is no doubting his talent.
“We know what Anton is capable of in his own equipment, but the day will also be a great chance to see how he fits into our team, with our gear.”
Running de Pasquale in David Reynolds’ current Commodore next Tuesday will also serve a second purpose.
“There’s no doubt we have come a long way this year, but there’s still more in the set-up than we’re getting out of the car.
“We still need to better understand the car and we believe we can achieve this, while giving Anton some valuable laps.”
Reynolds will also be on hand to complete his allowed ten laps.
