Erebus Motorsport’s David Reynolds has taken eighth place at the closing day of the Tasmania SuperSprint, while his teammate Anton De Pasquale made a wild recovery to P15.

With 150 Championship points on offer, Reynolds was quick to get off the line and squeeze passed James Courtney to claim seventh by the first corner.

The battle continued between the Holden duo, Courtney claiming back his position at turns six and seven, ten laps later.

De Pasquale had his own fight on his hands, elevating up four positions from his grid spot of 22^nd before the end of lap five.

84 laps the journey, De Pasquale took his first of two compulsory pit stops at the end of lap 20; Reynolds following two laps later.

Re-joining the field effective P8, Reynolds hunted Shane Van Gisbergen in front while fending off Garth Tander.

Holding the 0.1-second gap over his pit lane neighbour, it wasn’t until the second round of stops where Tander got passed.

Ready for a run to the end, forecasted rain begun to fall in the final stages but with no need for wet tyres, Reynolds and De Pasquale raced to the flag to claim 8^th and 15^th respectively.

DAVID REYNOLDS: Started 8^th, Finished 8^th

“We didn’t have enough pace from start to finish so we didn’t have much to battle with, we traded one thing for another in our setup and that hurt us today. We maximised what we could by having good pit stops and minimising mistakes and all we could manage was 8^th.

“Looking at the Championship we are a lot closer to the lead, we are still in second but only trailing by 11 points so it’s very close. Consistency is key and we have the second most consistent car so we just need to work a little harder and we’ll be there.”

ANTON DE PASQUALE: Started 22^nd, Finished 15^th

“I didn’t have the fastest car today but we were able to maximise the strategy. I got a reasonable start, pit at the right times and didn’t get caught in any drama so was able to run our own race and pick up spots.

“It was good to work our way back into the top 15 from where we started and a job well done by the team. We were a bit faster than yesterday but still lacking something, so we’ll go back and have a look at it all and work out how to make ourselves better for the next one.”
