Erebus Motorsport’s David Reynolds claimed his fifth podium of the season with third place at Hidden Valley today, while De Pasquale narrowly missed out on the top ten.

The Melbourne squad returned to form in spectacular fashion, Reynolds scoring Pole Position. De Pasquale added to their efforts, ensuring a team and career best with third spot on the grid.

Side to side with Scott McLaughlin, Reynolds got away well as the lights went out to take control of the race. Behind him, De Pasquale didn’t have the same fortune, getting passed by Rick Kelly and settling into fourth.

The field powered towards their first and only pit stop, De Pasquale taking his as early as lap six in an attempt to undercut the field. The #99 Holden ultimately came out behind Craig Lowndes.

Reynolds stayed out, however, continuing the lead until making his pit stop on lap 21 and re-joining effective fifth. He threaded his way through traffic in the closing stage, moving past Jamie Whincup, Lowndes and Kelly for third place.

With a gap to the leader now at 10-seconds, Reynolds used his fresh rubber to cruise in behind Shane van Gisbergen and close it to 1.2-seconds. The Penrite driver tried to seize the opportunity, but was unable to make a move and crossed the line third. Just outside the top ten, teammate De Pasquale finished 11^th.

DAVID REYNOLDS: Qualified 1^st, Finished 3^rd

“We’re disappointed with third, but it’s been a truly amazing day with pole position and Anton getting third. It’s the best ever qualifying result we’ve had across both cars.

“Obviously I would have loved to have won the race but we’re just missing a little bit here and there. In hindsight we probably could have gone a lot longer and jumped that pack we came out in, then had fresh tyres to try pass Scott. Otherwise it was a great day; we ran a very different style of car compared to Anton and both cars were fast.”

ANTON DE PASQUALE: Qualified 3^rd, Finished 11^th

“Qualifying was really good, and obviously we’re very happy with third and a career best for me. Also a great effort for the team, with a best team result which was great to be a part of.

“I got an average start in the race and dropped back to fourth before pitting. We lost a bit of time there and then got caught up in the mix of things. The strategy didn’t work for us today so we’ll have a look at it and try replicate what we did in qualifying again tomorrow, but do better in the race.”
