Erebus Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds scored his seventh podium of the year with a brilliant drive at Tailem Bend, his teammate Anton De Pasquale just behind the pack in 11th.

Anton led the team off the start line after qualifying eighth, going side-to-side with veteran James Courtney around the first lap. David, who started back in 12th, got away well to move up four spots and slot between Scott Pye and Will Davison in just a few laps.

The team’s two Holden’s both continued to run as majority of the field took their first stops. The #99 took fuel and tyres on lap nine, with David following just one lap later. David now in sixth position and Anton 14th.

With more fuel on board than those in front, both drivers were on the move. David moved up to third by lap 16 but didn’t make things easy for himself, making a small error on his way into pit lane and losing his spot to Tim Slade on the entry.

Now two stops complete and enough fuel to get the cars to the end of the race, David was now effective fourth and hungry to claw back his podium. With the gap narrowing and pressure on Slade escalating, the #14 driver finally cracked. Slade ran off the road, allowing David to snatch the final podium position with just seven laps remaining.

Anton continued to pull away from the mid-pack and find a gap between Scott McLaughlin and Chaz Mostert for 12th. Right on McLaughlin’s tail, Anton followed the #17 right past James Courtney for 11th, just two laps before the chequered flag fell.

DAVID REYNOLDS: Started 12th, Finished 3rd

““I’m really proud of the team for turning around what was a pretty shocking weekend before today. Yesterday really wasn’t our day and we worked really hard overnight. It was a little bit better in qualify, but we really got it together for the race.

“We have lacked a bit of pace which knocked our confidence and we probably went searching a bit too much, so we just brought it back to basics today and it really paid off.”

ANTON DE PASQUALE: Started 8th, Finished 11th

“Today was a big step forward obviously, we sat down and redesigned the car overnight which worked. Both cars went on a different path so we have a lot of information for our next visit here; my car was the better at qualifying and David’s was good in the race so we can learn a lot for next time.

“I had a good start, went side-by-side with Courtney through the first few corners and then fell out a little bit. I was quite slow in the first couple laps, struggling for grip, and then my car came good during the middle and end of the race and were able to try for a decent result, and I think just outside of the top ten is just that.
