Erebus Motorsport is confident in the direction it has taken on Day 1 of the Tasmanian Super Sprint following the second practice.
David Reynolds continues to work closely with his team in an effort to get the most from his number 9 Penrite Racing VF Commodore. General Manager Barry Ryan is pleased with the times both drivers produced and remains confident they will progress throughout the weekend. “We made some positive gains with 10minutes to go in practice. Between first and last there are eight tenths, it’s very competitive and we won’t rest on our laurels. We are aware all other teams will be trying to make the same marginal gains we are looking for”.
Reynolds was pleased with his time and feels there is more in the car after finishing 11th fastest. “The changes we made towards the end worked well. We are two tenths off first and the times are on par with last year. We will debrief and make some further changes before we hit the track tomorrow”.
Seasoned technical director Campbell Little was impressed with David’s feedback and was able to make positive changes to the car throughout the day. “We made some effective changes that improved the drivability of the car today off the back of David’s valuable feedback. We just need to keep making small improvements for the marginal gains we are chasing”.
Rookie driver Aaren Russell in the number 4 Plus Fitness Racing entry was ok with his time as he continued to improve across both practice sessions. “I’m happy with the gains we’ve made today, we went over half a second faster than we had in the first session. This is my first time here and the field is so close, I’m just working on getting everything perfect to set a good time. We’re definitely closer to the field this round than the GP”.
Aaren’s engineer Mat Nilsson was content with the improvements made throughout the day. “With minimal changes and a focus on learning the track Aaren did well. We need to work on braking and Aaren is realistic and willing to learn and listen. It was a positive first day”.
The team now looks towards Saturdays Practice 3 at 11:20am to finalise car set up before Qualifying at 2:35pm. Race 4 of the V8 Supercars Championship will be run over 50 laps at 4:45pm.
David & Aaren will also be signing autographs for the Tasmanian fans at the Penrite Merchandise tent between 1:00pm & 1:15pm.
