Erebus Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds was second fastest in today’s final practice at Pukekohe Park Raceway, as teammate Anton De Pasquale laid his first laps.
David clocked a 1:02.7537 when running resumed after a third red-flag period, good enough for the top spot.
His time was eventually beat by Jamie Whincup though, just 0.09-seconds separating the two.
Anton spent the two 40-minutes practice sessions learning the track and finished the day in 16th, a very close 0.4-seconds off his teammate.
DAVID REYNOLDS:
“I did my time on the first of two back-to-back laps which was good because it’s really hard to get your front tyres up for turn one here so I’m very happy to do that lap time straight away.
“We improved the car during the day; when we first rolled out we weren’t there, and the track didn’t have a lot of grip. We threw everything at it and we tuned it up and got it a lot better. I’m really, really happy that we were able to do that.
ANTON DE PASQUALE:
“It was good to get my first laps today and get a feel for this track. It’s one of the few this year where I have no previous experience.
“We’re not where we want to be but we didn’t expect to top the time sheets today, so we’ll have a look at the data tonight and see what we can do ahead of another practice and qualifying tomorrow. We’re in a lucky position that car #9 found some speed in the afternoon so we are able to look at what they were able to do.”
