Erebus takes ownership of its new motorsport facility. General Manager Barry Ryan maintains the team is achieving their on and off track objectives and are focused on Townsville –
“We always planned on moving into new premises. We have maintained our objectives and timelines and feel we are ahead of what we had set out to do. Our primary focus during the transition from Queensland was building a core team, car performance and making the drivers comfortable. The move won’t happen immediately as we need to ensure the new Erebus Headquarters are fitted out with all essentials”.
2016 has marked many changes in Erebus Motorsport, Betty Klimenko explains, as it prepares for its future in Motorsport –
“The transition has been a massive undertaking and I am extremely appreciative of everyone’s patience and understanding. Our sponsors and staff have been very supportive and David Reynolds has been fantastic through all of this. 2016 was a fresh start for Erebus, we have two entries competing, however we only have one car in the championship that we own. We agreed to work with Novocastrian Motorsport ahead of this year to give Aaren Russell the chance to compete which is something we haven’t done before in Supercars”.
Aaren and his father Wayne brought their own car and major sponsor, and Erebus Motorsport have been managing and maintaining it, Ryan explained –
“Wayne Russell wanted his son to compete in Supercars and together we worked on a program that gives Aaren the chance to work with Erebus Motorsport’s experienced crew. The team has also made David available to help Aaren where he can”.
Erebus Motorsport are working on building a new car for Dave ahead of 2017 and look forward to moving in to their new premise. Klimenko believes her team is in a good position to finish strong in 2016 –
“We are achieving everything we set out to. Supercars are competitive and we are effectively racing a new car with a new crew. As things settle and we find some momentum I know we will continue improving, I have full confidence in my team and together we will finish strong. I am committed to Supercars and am excited about our future”.
