Erebus Motorsport’s David Reynolds and Craig Baird have impressed on the streets of Surfers Paradise, after featuring at the top of the time sheets today.

The opening day of running saw 90 minutes of on-track action held over three practice sessions.

Reynolds recorded his fastest lap in today’s third and final practice. His lap of 1:10.9857 resulted in the #9 Commodore finishing 0.04 off his rival in front and 7^th fastest for the day.

“It was one of the better days we have had lately,” Reynolds said.

“If you have a good practice car you’ll have a good weekend, so hopefully we are in for a good weekend. I think we should be.”

Reynolds believes all the signs are pointing in right direction, as the new team develop their Holden Commodores.

“It’s been a slow evolution of the car, there were things we found wrong at Bathurst which we have improved and has improved our overall performance.

“We still need to find a couple of tenths in the last sector to be fully satisfied but we’ll have a look at that overnight and see how we roll out tomorrow.”

The second session of the day was held exclusively for the endurance co-drivers.

Baird jumped in to set his own pace and recorded a time to put him safely inside the top ten.

“It’s just a great team effort, a really good turn around after the disappointment at Bathurst,” Baird said.

“The car came out of the truck just so good, I think Dave proved that from the first flying lap he did.

“He was straight in the top three; you almost know as soon as you drive the car if you are in the window or not and the car was right there.”

The team will now adapt its set-up for qualifying tomorrow at 10:45am local time.
