Today Erebus Motorsport prepares for its second event in less than a month and it knows that baby steps are necessary to achieving its overall goal. General Manager Barry Ryan accepts that this is a rigorous and trying time –

“No one likes excuses, however it’s a fact that we have built a new team in less than 3 months, with new cars. Its integral we extract as much data as we can from each session. Car racing is equally a science off the track as it is on”.

The Erebus Motorsport Penrite Racing driver David Reynolds recorded the team’s best individual race and overall finish at Clipsal with a 5th and 11th overall respectively. Technical Director Campbell Little was impressed with the cars speed in the wet and said that it also proved fast in some places in the dry –

“Our wet setup worked. In the dry Dave was able to race the car fast in various sections but not consistently around the whole track. We will spend time trying things over the weekend in an effort to make the car more consistent”.

The AGP leg of V8 Supercars is unique. There are 4 races of 12 laps and pit stops are not required. With only one qualifying session determining the start for all 4 races it’s important to get it right. Ryan concluded –

“Qualifying will prove paramount. We don’t want to be buried in the pack. We will do everything we can to give Dave and Aaren fast cars and the right data. This event will prove invaluable for the team as it will give us more time in the car to try things before we head to Tasmania”.
