Erebus Motorsport displayed a stellar performance in wet conditions at Symmons Plains today, with both cars emerging in the top ten.

The full 15-minute qualifying was run in wet conditions, with a downpour prior to the start making for a tricky session.

David Reynolds and Dale Wood made the most of it, and found a dry line in the final minutes to cement their fastest times.

Reynolds scored 4th with a time of 0:57.8951, and Wood just one tenth behind in 7th.

The slippery conditions continued into the race, with both drivers struggling to make it off the start line; Reynolds dropping to 5th and Wood 8th before the end of the opening lap.

With severely limited vision for the drivers, a melee was triggered on lap 2, causing a 12-car pile-up on the run to Turn 4.

The race was red flagged and shortened to just four laps; Reynolds taking the chequered flag under Safety Car in fourth, with this teammate Wood in eighth.

David Reynolds – #9 Erebus Penrite Racing
“It was a bit of a non-event today, there was a massive shunt that heavily shortened our race. It was probably the best day for us to qualify up the front.

‘’I was a bit worried in qualifying because it took me a long time to do a lap; I kept spearing off but when I got it together it was good enough for fourth.

“Things could have gone a little bit different even in just one and a half laps in the race, if I got a better start and didn’t stuff up the last corner I would have been on the podium.”

Dale Wood – #99 Erebus GB Galvanizing Racing
“Obviously, plenty of good stuff to take from today, two cars in the top seven is really cool and to qualify up there was nice.

“We couldn’t capitalise on the race with all the carnage so that was disappointing but there’s certainly lots of positives; we have good fast cars and hopefully we can replicate that tomorrow.”
