Erebus Motorsport’s David Reynolds will debut an updated livery this weekend, as Penrite Oil’s new Enviro Box features on the new look #9 Commodore.

The Penrite Enviro Box is the first of its kind; decreasing packaging waste, increasing storage capacity, increasing workplace safety and saving money.

The ‘bag-in-a-box’ concept was revealed to the market just two weeks ago and Penrite Oil’s General Manager, Toby Dymond, is enthusiastic about the prospective impact this program will have on the environment.

“Penrite is proud to be the first Australian oil company to introduce the Enviro Box, which we believe will reduce the use of plastic drums significantly, representing a major step forward in our industry being more environmentally responsible,” Dymond said.

The Enviro Box is 100% recyclable and replaces the traditional plastic drum, resulting in an 85% reduction in landfill waste per unit produced.

The product has been awarded the Australian Auto Aftermarket Association’s 2017 Most Innovative New Packaging Award.

“We are thrilled to be the recipient of this award,” Dymond said.

“We believe the Enviro Box packaging concept is the future of automotive lubricant packaging in Australia, so to win this award is a humbling indicator that we’re introducing today’s solution, for a better tomorrow.”

David Reynolds is also impressed by the company’s solution and their step to a greener future.

“It’s very cool, it’s not only a fantastic idea, but a real credit to Penrite for being the first in their industry to introduce something like this,” he said.

“Everyone today is looking for a way to be more sustainable and Penrite are now leading the way.

“The car looks pretty good; I’ve always been against having green on a race car as I think it’s bad luck, but hopefully we can break that superstition.

“We’ve had some good momentum over the last few rounds and are keen to keep that going this weekend.”

The Phillip Island 500 will feature two 250-kilometre races across both Saturday and Sunday, with practice from Friday.
