While a lot of Erebus Motorsport’s sponsors have done a throwback to their original logos, Hare & Forbes have gone one step further for this weekend’s Sandown 500.

Hare and Forbes Machineryhouse sponsored the original 1986 Bathurst-winner and have returned to support Erebus’ tribute livery.

“It was a last minute deal to sponsor the Chickadee Commodore back in 1986; it was the companies first ever dabble into sponsoring motor racing” General Manager Rick Foster said.

“Allan Hare says it was like winning the lottery to be a sponsor on the Bathurst winner, so when we were approached by Erebus to be on the retro model for Sandown it was hard to resist.”

The Hare & Forbes logo appears on the rear guard, just as it did on the original car.

With its inception in 1930, the Australian owned family company are now one of the largest stockists and suppliers of machine tools, sheet metal and fabrication equipment in Australia.

“Hopefully Dave and Luke can repeat the result and we will have another race victory to add to the first,” Foster said.

“The team have done a wonderful job in creating a car that is easily recognisable as the ’86 winners and hopefully it will become the easily recognisable Sandown winner this weekend.”

Erebus Motorsport’s CEO Barry Ryan also commented; “It’s great to have Hare and Forbes on board for this weekend and brilliant to see them back on the car 32 years on.

“We have gone the extra mile for retro round and paid attention to a lot of little details so I think it pays off to have someone like Hare and Forbes recognise what we have done.”
