A second place finish for Will Brown in the final race of the Superloop Adelaide 500 today has seen the gun 21 year old make it three from three podiums in the opening round of the 2020 Dunlop Super2 Series.
Starting third on the grid behind Brodie Kostecki and Thomas Randle,  Brown made the most of a costly Kostecki error on lap three. Kostecki went wide on Turn 4, running down the escape road allowing Randle to take the lead with Will close behind.

Brown battled well to maintain his position for the rest of the race, finishing just 2.3575 seconds behind Randle and securing  overall third place in the Championship after the first round on 264 points, Just 20 points behind Randle (284) and 22 behind leader Kostecki (286).

“I said if we came in this weekend and walked away on the podium we’d be pretty happy so I can’t complain at all,” said Brown.

“’The  car felt a lot better today, so I am really happy with it. I think we ended the weekend off alright. I didn’t have my helmet fan or my cool suit working, so it got really hot toward the end, but we were definitely better. Thomas didn’t get away from us like previous races, so that showed the improvement.”

Brown’s opening round under the new team of Erebus Motorsport Image Racing has proven to be an encouraging start for the young Queenslander. Brown believes the competition in the Dunlop Super2 Series will see some epic battles this year, especially between himself, Kostecki and Randle.

“We showed it in P1 this year that we are a second faster than last year, so it definitely hasn’t got any less competitive, especially with these guys sitting here.

“Brodie won a few races last year and Tom won a few as well so its just as competitive as last year. We are all battling for the title and everyone wants it. For Supercars to put up the money to go to main game it’s a massive thing and a good thing for young guys going to the main game. Its not an easy place to get into these days so that’s a massive help and the financial incentive just adds to it.”

The next round of the Dunlop Super2 Series is the Tyrepower Tasmania Super400 at Symmons Plains from April 3-5.
