With the Winton SuperSprint next weekend, Erebus Academy’s affiliate team Image Racing have completed a two-day test at the hosting track.
The event marks the second round on the combined Super2/Super3 calendar, with Jaylyn Robotham and Reef McCarthy having debuted in the respective categories at the beginning of the year.
For driver Jordan Boys, 2021 marks his fifth Super2 season after finishing third in last year’s championship.
With a three month gap between events, Erebus Academy’s newest recruit Robotham was keen to score some seat time ahead of the upcoming event.
“The two day test was vital before next weekend, so I’m really happy we were able to do it,” he said.
“It really gave us an opportunity to try out a heap of different things before the race meeting.”
Having not raced at the track since 2017, Robotham was pleased to see some positive results come out of the test days.
“Last time I raced at Winton I was in an Excel so there’s a big difference in cars,” he said.
“The track is awesome and I’m feeling really good after these test days.
“I’ve got my confidence back in the car after a long break so I can be on it right from practice one next week.”
Image Racing owner Terry Wyhoon was equally pleased his drivers had the two-day testing opportunity, especially after a nearly three month break between rounds.
“Jordan, Jaylyn and Reef did a great job,” he said.
“I’m really happy with our test and the car speed is great, but I’m one for not getting ahead of myself.
“The real test will be next week and with the help of Erebus, we have some bloody fast cars.”
Erebus has been aligned with Wyhoon’s Super2 and Super3 team for over three years through its Erebus Academy.
The Image Racing team will hit the track for the Winton SuperSprint next weekend, May 29-30.
