Erebus Motorsport’s Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown have taken a battling 9th and 11th in the opening race at Tailem Bend.

Tricky weather conditions plagued the day though Will managed his career best Supercars qualifying and the team’s best qualifying rest at Tailem Bend to start third on the grid.

At the start Brodie got away well from tenth and made up his way up four spots before the end of the opening lap, while Will moved back one position after a slippery start.

The crew set up for their first pit stop at the end of lap five; Brodie taking his stop, switching from wet rubber to soft.

A long stop though saw the #99 drop back into the pack, returning to the field P11 when the order was settled.

With rain expected, Will held off for as long as he could before pitting for his new set of tyres. With his wet tyres unable to keep up on a drying track, he stopped at the end of lap 11.

Both Erebus drivers drove well to recover a few positions, Brodie making it to ninth and Will 11th before the chequered flag was drawn.

Another two qualifying sessions will kick off tomorrow at 9:10am local time, ahead of two races tomorrow afternoon.
