Erebus Motorsport’s Will Brown has recorded his equal best finish of fifth during an action-packed day at the Darwin Triple Crown.

Teammate Brodie Kostecki also finished safely inside the top ten in ninth, though both drivers’ results weren’t straight forward.

Both Erebus drivers got away well and were fast down to Turn 1 though it was high-drama from there. The team’s Commodores luckily avoided the drama and came through unscathed as five cars were wiped out at the opening corner.

It triggered a six-lap intervention and saw Brodie jump P13 to P7, while Will skyrocketed up ten spots from P22 on the grid when the race resumed.

Will picked up one more spot before taking his compulsory pit stop on lap ten, while Brodie only waited one more lap to take his two rear tyres.

More drama unfolded when Will was served a drive-through penalty for the restart procedure, though it was later revoked and he powered through to the end.

With 12 laps left to run the field was cleansed and Brodie was flying in fourth, with Will just behind in fifth.

Boost Mobile competitor James Courtney snuck by Will cleanly, however it was on his next attempt it went wrong. The #44 got stuck into the inside of Brodie and sent him off onto the grass though Brodie responded quickly to claim his rightful place.

Brodie managed to keep his position though was handed a 5-second penalty for the re-join which ultimately saw him fall to ninth after the checkered flag.

The team now prepare for two qualifying sessions and races tomorrow.
