Erebus Motorsport are backing karting ace David Sera’s newest project, when their cars hit the track virtually for the first time tomorrow night.

The 18-time Australian Kart Champion has held a relationship with the Academy through his program, Sera Driver Development, since 2019 and has spent the last three years developing a training program aptly named Kart Class.

Following multiple lockdowns and months of disrupted racing, the online program has been established to help young drivers develop their skills at all stages of their karting careers.

Combining his knowledge with other professional motorsport drivers and UK mental skills coach, Greg McColl, Sera aims to cover all aspects of what it takes to be consistently at the top end of the field.

“Coaching has always been a passion of mine since I started back in 2011,” he said.

“The biggest hurdle has been reaching people far and wide to provide them with support, so by going online, aspiring racers can learn from anywhere in the world at any time of day.

“With our Kart Class programs drivers can learn at their own pace, re-watch videos, fill in our worksheets and print off our diagrams so they can continue to develop their skills all the time.

“It’s really exciting to continue our partnership with Erebus and see our Kart Class branding on a Supercar in the virtual world.

“We hope the techniques we teach drivers can set them on a path to a successful motor racing career one day.”

With courses created for both beginners and advanced drivers, Kart Class covers everything from basic karting theory to wet weather driving, qualifying, race craft and developing a strong mindset.

Utilising a combination of learning devices such as videos, podcasts, worksheets and articles, Sera’s program enables young drivers to learn at their own pace.

Erebus CEO Barry Ryan believes programs like Kart Class are integral for a junior driver’s development.

“Karting is the foundation for many motorsport careers,” he said.

“Dave is the most successful karter in Australia so to have someone as talented as him encouraging and educating the next generation is crucial to the sport.

“Dave has always coached young drivers, but Kart Class enables him to reach an even broader range of drivers, regardless of their location, who can benefit greatly from his experience.”

The Kart Class branding will be featured on the headlights of all Erebus Motorsport entries during the upcoming Supercars Eseries, which kicks off tomorrow night from 7:00pm AEST
