Erebus Boost Mobile Racing’s Brodie Kostecki has claimed his second career podium in the first outing at Sydney Motorsport Park under lights.

Meanwhile teammate Will Brown also put on a heroic performance, to complete the top five, making it the team’s overall best result since 2017.

Starting from his maiden front row, Will got away well, and rubbed doors with Anton De Pasquale around the outside of the opening complex before settling into second.

Will shadowed De Pasquale for the first 14 laps and performed the quickest lap of the race but was unable to get close enough before making his stop on lap 15, taking on four tyres.

The WD-40 pilot re-joined down the order though, after a 16-second stop saw Will’s hopes of his first win fade away.

Behind him, Brodie held fifth off the line after his career best qualifying and pushed his Erebus Commodore to its limits before stopping on lap 17.

The team recovered brilliantly, with a perfect four-tyre stop before Brodie was sent on his way, re-joining ahead of Will.

While those that only took on two tyres settled into their second stint, Brodie and Will edged their way into the top six as the field was cleansed.

With ten laps remaining, Brodie and Will did a masterful job, and got by David Reynolds before chasing down Chaz Mostert two laps later.

On the penultimate lap, the Boost Mobile Commodore cleared Nick Percat at Turn 6 for the final spot on the podium, while Will did his best to unsettle him though couldn’t make an overtake stick.

Will did though claim the five bonus points for the fastest lap of the race and help the team jump to fifth in the Team’s Championship.

After a fantastic start to Sydney, the team now prepare for two more qualifying sessions and races tomorrow.
