Erebus Academy will offer some aspiring Supercars drivers the chance to sample one of the team’s race cars at Winton on June 7.

The initiative aptly named ‘who’s next’, will be looking for the next talent while focusing on providing young racers with fundamental skills.

It is the third of its kind with the Melbourne-based squad, who kicked off the program at Norwell late last year.

“These kinds of experiences are really beneficial for young drivers,” Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said.

“It’s great for the sport and gives kids an opportunity to learn the fundamentals and help them make it to where they want to be.”

The experience is aimed to ensure drivers are trained to understand the basics of driving a Supercar, and to provide them credibility to pursue further experiences in the sport.

The Erebus Academy supports emerging talent and aims to build careers in motorsport.

In a similar effort, Erebus Academy also runs similar programs, such as ‘Creating Pathways’ and ‘Karts to Cars’.

More recently they announced a wildcard entry for Jordan Boys alongside Image Racing at Winton and Tailem Bend.

Boys test at Winton yesterday and Ryan says it is all about fostering the next generation of Supercars talent.

“Erebus have more than proved over the years that we are willing to give young drivers a go, we would like to continue this and find ‘who’s next’ to show what they can do in a Supercar,” Ryan continued.

“Having Jordan Boys about to make his first main game start with Image Racing via the Erebus Academy makes us all proud of our program and we’re looking forward to seeing how he performs next weekend.”

Successful applicants for ‘who’s next’ will meet an eligibility criterion to ensure the driver is ready and has the basic experience to successfully test the team’s Supercar.

Any applicant’s eligible will also be guided by the Erebus Academy as to what steps can be taken to obtain eligibility and take the next steps in their racing careers.

For those wishing to apply, please send expressions of interest, along with personal details and racing experience, to academy@erebusmotorsport.com by COB Tuesday May 17.

A cost will be incurred by participants to ensure the program is sustainable and delivers the best training and experience. All details will be communicated to successful candidates by COB May 24, 2022.
