Boost Mobile Racing powered by Erebus drivers Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki have concluded their season on a high, securing P6 and P8 respectively in Adelaide’s season finale.
Starting from P14, Brodie pushed hard right out the gate and gained four positions in the opening lap to slot firmly inside the top ten.
Meanwhile, Will held onto his P7 starting position but an early coolsuit failure spelt trouble as the car #9 cabin rose to 55 degrees.
Switching up their strategies from yesterday, Brodie was amongst the first to pit, coming in for fresh rubber and fuel on lap 6.
As the first Safety Car was deployed on lap 18, the crew prepared to fix Will’s cool suit in addition to regular pit stop proceedings. Fortunately, the issue was quickly resolved and Will rejoined the field without losing any time.
With the remainder of the field pitting under Safety Car, Brodie sat P6 followed by Will in P9 as racing resumed on lap 21.
Brodie was still determined to make gains and made a terrific pass on Shane van Gisbergen but as he set his sights on Mostert; tapping the wall on the way through and hurting the whole left side of the car and ultimately pace.
Will pit for his final stop on lap 43, moments before the Safety Car was called when Bryce Fullwood hit the wall at Turn 8. Brodie immediately followed with the drivers rejoining the pack in P6 and P9 respectively.
An incident between Reynolds and Davison saw Brodie just manage to scrape through safely and although he lost two positions, these were quickly regained with the car #99 back in P8 by lap 64.
The remainder of the race was pretty straight forward for Will who held onto P6 from the final yellow flag until the checkered flag.
Brodie’s P8 result saw him jump to 7th in the Drivers Championship, while Will finished up his season in a respectable 14th.
Erebus Motorsport now look forward to Gen3, with the 2023 season commencing at Newcastle, March 4-6.
