Erebus Academy’s Jobe Stewart has secured his third podium in as many races, winning on debut in Perth today.

Meanwhile, after qualifying further back than anticipated, Jay Hanson and Jack Perkins faced a difficult race ahead of them starting P11 and P14 respectively.

When the lights went out, Jobe was quick off the start and immediately moved into the lead after qualifying P2 in Super3.

Jay and Jack also managed to make opening lap gains with the Super2 drivers making up four positions between them to sit P8 and P13 respectively.

Lap 2 saw the most drama of the race with the first and only Safety Car of the race deployed as contact between the Eggleston teammates resulted in Callum Walker stranded in the sand.

Fortunately, the trio all managed to avoid the drama and by midway through the race, Jobe and Jay were still holding onto their earlier positions in P1 and P8. Meanwhile, Jack had a dip in pace and was now sitting P15 where he remained until the checkered flag.

Jay was involved in plenty of action in the remaining laps and after consistent swapping between P7 and P8 alongside Aaron Love and Zane Morse, Jay eventually crossed the line P8.

On the final lap of the race, Jobe was pushed wide by Cameron McLeod who then took the lead. However, a 5-second post-race penalty handed to the #92 driver for the incident saw Jobe elevated back to P1, securing his second win of the season.

Dunlop Series qualifying kicks off at 8:30am tomorrow morning, followed by Race 2 at 2:15pm local time.
