An action packed race has seen Erebus Academy’s Jobe Stewart go two for two at Sandown securing the overall Super3 round win and extending his Championship lead to 138 points.

Meanwhile, Jay Hanson and Jack Perkins both made significant gains from P11 and P13 and avoided involvement  of the multiple Safety Cars to finish top ten in P7 and P8 respectively.

Having qualified in P3, Jobe had a big task ahead of him to move through the field, though an opening lap incident between Super3’s Cameron McLeod and three Super2 drivers, saw Jobe easily slide by to P2.

This resulted in the first of three Safety Cars and marked the beginning of what would be a chaotic Sandown finale.

Shortly after the restart, an incident between front runners Zane Morse and Zak Best saw them both in the gravel resulting in Jay and Jack progressing to P8 and P9 respectively.

Meanwhile, leading Super3 driver Mason Kelly was rocked by a damaged and lifted bonnet, resulting in a drop to P2 and Jobe now assuming the Super3 lead.

While Morse attempted to drive off, a blown tyre saw him stopped on the track and a second Safety Car was called on lap 8

On lap 16, multiple cars were battling for the Super2 lead which saw race leader Aaron Love sent into a spin as he attempted to hold the lead. Jay and Jay again found themselves the beneficiaries with each gaining one position to slot into P7 and P8 respectively.

The third and final safety car of the race was called on lap 17 and as the clock was running out, there was a one lap dash that saw Jobe cement his victory, while Jay and Jack finished P7 and P8.

The three drivers will return to the track in three weeks time for the Bathurst 1000, October 5 – 8.
