Saturday at the Mountain saw Hazelwood in Car 99 fifth fastest, with Le Brocq finishing up the 20 minute session just outside the top 10 in P11 after yellows interrupted the final minutes of the session.
Come Top 10 Shootout time, Todd in his very first Shootout at the Mountain posted a time of 2:07.2119s to claim 7th on the grid for the first race of the 2024 Championship season.
Almost immediately following the race start the Safety Car was triggered by Ryan Wood ending up in the gravel trap at turn one.
The race then went largely processional until Le Brocq’s first stop on Lap 15 for tyres and fuel, rejoining in P16.
Hazelwood followed him in a lap later for tyres only, rejoining in P7.
It was the second longer fuel stop for Hazelwood on lap 25 that would be an issue: a refuelling issue kept the car in the air longer than it should have been costing precious seconds. He eventually rejoined in P16.
Hazelwood was able to make back some ground in the final stages of the race, but a safety car was triggered by Aaron Love’s crash at The Cutting prompting a procession to the flag.
Hazelwood finished the day 11th and Le Brocq 13th.
