Erebus Academy drivers Jobe Stewart and Jarrod Hughes claimed 12th and 7th respectively in Race 1 at Perth for Round 2 of the Dunlop Super2 Championship.

The sun was shining for the first qualifying session, with Jarrod securing 6th on the grid and Jobe 17th.

An unfortunate start saw both drivers drop down to 9th and 19th at the completion of the opening lap. Jobe quickly fought back to regain multiple positions finding himself back up into 14th.

Despite the start Jarrod remained in the top 10, moving to 8th throughout the opening laps.

At the half-way mark, Jobe made a great move past Cleary to gain another position.

The Safety Car was brought out with twelve and half minutes to go out after a collision at turn 1. When the green flag dropped again, both drivers defended well into the first corner to maintain their positions.

Car 55 wasn’t so lucky, enabling Jobe to move up into 12th positon.

Jarrod and Jobe continued their pace, completing the race in 7th and 12th.

The academy drivers now look ahead to the tomorrow for the final day of racing here in Perth.
