An overnight engine change for the 9 car meant a late night and an early return to the track for the crew, but there was cautious optimism that we could improve on our Saturday performance.
Qualifying, however, proved challenging once again. Neither car made it to the Shootout, with Brodie starting 13th on the grid and Jack a bit further back in 19th.
As the race began, both drivers got clean starts but initially lost positions. By the end of the first lap, Brodie had moved up to 12th, while Jack settled into 20th.
By lap 12, Brodie was in 11th place, and Jack had climbed to 16th. By lap 17, with about half the field having already pitted, Brodie was running in 6th and Jack in 9th.
On lap 18, Jack made his first pit stop, rejoining in 21st. Brodie stayed out until lap 25, pitting from 2nd and making some adjustments during the stop, rejoining in 24th.
Brodie’s one-stop strategy paid off as he climbed to 7th with 16 laps to go. Jack pitted for his second stop and rejoined in 19th.
In the closing stages, Jack moved up to finish 15th, while Brodie crossed the line in 7th, advancing six positions from his starting spot and becoming the second Chev home.
