With the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend just over two weeks away, Erebus Motorsport’s Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki have completed their second rookie test of the year at the upcoming track.
Heading into this latest test was a slightly different feel to their previous tests with the drivers now having three main game rounds under their belts.
With some positive adjustments made, the drivers were pleased with the day’s results and are looking forward to the approaching event.
“Yesterday was really good overall, the car felt pretty good towards the end of the day so we’re really happy about that,” Kostecki said.
“We got to make some pretty good changes that we probably wouldn’t be able to make on a race weekend.”
With both drivers in their first year of Supercars, these rookie tests are an important opportunity for them to continually gain more experience in the field.
“It’s awesome to get a test day at Tailem Bend especially when we’re racing there in the next few weeks, it’s a bonus for the team,” Brown said.
“Obviously as rookies, we haven’t really driven a Supercar much around Tailem Bend so it’s a big help for us to get a bit more testing in.”
Similarly, Kostecki acknowledged how fortunate the team were to have their second rookie test at The Bend yesterday.
“It’s pretty rare that you get to test prior to a race meeting at the track you’re going to be racing at so we were pretty lucky in that respect,” Kostecki said.
Whilst both drivers have driven laps at The Bend, neither have had the chance to race a Supercar there, which is something they are both looking forward to.
“It’s going to be pretty exciting because I haven’t really had the opportunity to race at a track like this,” Kostecki said.
“It’s very fast flowing and the track surface is very new and smooth, most tracks we go to are pretty rough and rugged.”
With two victories at the Bend already under his belt, Brown is confident the team will see some good results.
“I’ve raced at Tailem Bend in TCR but not in Supercars,” he said.
“It’s a great track to do a lap around, it makes for hard passing and all that kind of stuff.
“I’ve always enjoyed the track and I’m sure we’ll have a good run there.”
Brown and Kostecki will return to The Bend for the OTR SuperSprint, May 7-9.
