Erebus Motorsport’s Will Brown has claimed a pair of 6^th places under bizarre conditions at Sydney Motorsport Park today.

Meanwhile teammate Brodie Kostecki scored a best of 20^th, after a string of bad luck.

Race 24

Starting on a semi-dry track, the entire field started on a dry tyre though it was a mixed bag as to what compound they were on. Will got away well from 10^th off the line and used his soft tyre very well to move up to P7 by lap 3.

He moved up another two spots by lap 3, meanwhile behind him Brodie didn’t get away so well. As the drivers used every bit of road Brodie dropped four spots to P22 off the start, though wasn’t going to let that stop him. The #99 Boost Mobile driver fought back and managed a whopping nine spots by lap 4 to slot into P13.

Both Erebus Commodores showed tremendous pace; Will one of the fastest cars on track and the next best behind the two DJR Falcons. A broken roll bar for Brodie though slowed him down, with the #99 driver struggling to handle his Holden and having to limp his Holden around the Sydney circuit.

Will took his compulsory stop, swapping to hard tyres on lap 17, meanwhile Brodie followed two laps later. They were one of the fastest crews in pit lane and when the field was cleansed Will sat 6^th and Brodie 20^th. It was ultimately where they finished the race at the end of 32 laps.

Race 25

With rain threatening all day, it eventually came as the cars lined up on the grid for the final race of the weekend. Starting from inside the top ten, Will again got a blistering start and was fastest off the line to immediately claim eight spots and slot into 9^th from P17.

Brodie had a slipperier start from P10 and quickly found trouble as the drivers tried to navigate the tricky conditions. The other Boost Mobile car of James Courtney turned in on Brodie at Turn 3, and interlocked wheels, ultimately sending the pair off into the tyre barrier and ending Brodie’s night.

It triggered the first of two Safety Cars and when the race restarted through thick Will got away superbly. Will moved up another 5 spots to 4^th and with tremendous pace, was told to keep it up.

The #9 driver pit at the end of lap 17 for two rear tyres only with a perfect stop gained 4-seconds to Will Davison. The pair re-joined the field amid a battle-pack with Tim Slade and Chaz Mostert. With his tyres yet to turn on, Will was gearing up to get by them all to take though a poorly timed Safety Car stopped him.

The second yellow flag was drawn when Jake Kostecki hit the wall at Turn 2 on lap 19 and saw a flurry of pit stops. The Shaw and Partners Commodore was demoted to 6^th behind the Safety Car due to the timing of the stops and with the rain worsening under yellow, the race was eventually red flagged after 24 laps. Unable to get the race going again that is where Will finished, still a massive 11-spots ahead of where he started.

Will’s results have elevated him to 8^th in the Championship, meanwhile Brodie has slipped just outside the top ten.

Racing is back at Sydney Motorsport Park next weekend, with the third of four back-to-back race weekends.
