This weekend’s Newcastle 500 marks ten years since Erebus Motorsport first entered Supercars.

Erebus joined the Supercars Championship in 2013 after two years of racing GT’s. Team owner Betty Klimenko AM took over Stone Brothers Racing and rebranded it as her own, initially fielding a three-car team running Mercedes-Benz AMG E63s.

Erebus raced these cars for three seasons and won a pair of races though opted to switch to Holden Commodores and move its Supercars program from Queensland to Melbourne for 2016.

The rebuild of Erebus took place under the watch of current CEO Barry Ryan. Erebus built a new car in-house for 2017 and was rewarded with the ultimate success as the team claimed their maiden Bathurst 1000 victory, making them one of just two teams to have won the Bathurst 1000 and Bathurst 12 Hour.

Years on and now with ten seasons and 118,756 race-kilometres under their belt, the now Melbourne-based squad has racked up eight wins, nine pole positions and 36 podium finishes.

“It’s been an incredible decade for Erebus and it’s gone so quickly,” Klimenko said.

“We’ve had our ups and downs, as does every team, but I am incredibly proud to look back at what we have achieved.

“I am so happy with where we are now and what we have accomplished in those ten years and I look forward to seeing what the next ten years will bring.”

To commemorate the anniversary, Erebus has confirmed the release of a book later this year documenting the team’s history, its cars and achievements.

They will also release an exclusive 10-year anniversary merchandise range, including a cap, polo, and range of different accessories.

Erebus will make their 138th round start in Newcastle this weekend with on-track action kicking off on Friday.

This weekend also marks the start of the new Gen3 era, where Erebus will run two Chevrolet Camaro’s.
