Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus has come out of Newcastle on top of the team’s leader board, after Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown finished today’s final race in P6 and P13.
A tough qualifying saw Brodie and Will start further back than anticipated, though they got away well from P15 and P17 respectively
Racing didn’t last long with a red flag immediately called after a crash on the starting grid, with Macauley Jones turning Cameron Hill into the concrete barrier
Brodie did though make up 12 spots before it happened and was 3 places higher when racing resumed 20-minutes later.
As the pit window opened Will moved past Will Davison before pitting at the end of lap 22 for tyres and fuel.
He was the fastest car on track after he re-joined on fresher rubber, meanwhile Brodie was good enough for the top three.
Will made a move on Cameron Hill on lap 26 though it was deemed a bump and run and Will would need to later serve a 5-second penalty for the driving infringement.
Brodie took the first of his two stops on lap 32 and with a quick splash of fuel, came out in clean air and was ready to charge forward.
This was where most of the moves were made, with Brodie now P6 and Will P13 at the halfway mark of the race.
There wasn’t much moving in the field once the second stops were complete and the race was declared time certain.
Brodie took the checkered flag 6th, nine spots higher than where he started, and Will 13th.
The weekend’s results also sees Brodie take 2nd in the Driver’s Championship, with Will not far behind in 6th.
The next round moves to Albert Park for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, March 30 – April 2.
