Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus drivers Brodie Kostecki and David Russell have secured second place at the Bathurst 1000, marking their second podium at the track together. 

Meanwhile, Will Brown and Jack Perkins slotted themselves firmly within the top ten, securing 8th position after qualifying 17th. 

With the starting grid a mix of co-drivers and main drivers, the Erebus Camaros began on a different strategies with Will taking the first stint in car #9, while Dave commanded car #99.

Will, who started in lowly P17, was on the move from the beginning and gained a whopping 12 positions before handing the car over to Jack in P5, who exited pit lane just as the first Safety Car was called on lap 27.

Starting from pole position, Dave got a good start though slotted into formation just behind Jamie Whincup to hold second where he remained until the first driver change under yellows on lap 28.

The second Safety Car of the race was called on lap 40 resulting in a double stack for Will. Though there was a decent gap between both the team’s cars, there was still a wait for the #9, which dropped Will to P14 on the rejoin.

Lap 64 saw Brodie enter the pits from the lead for a second driver change of the day with Dave taking the reins for his final 27 lap stint, while Jack had entered a lap prior for fuel and tyres only.

Another Safety Car was deployed on lap 70 when James Moffat hit the wall up the top of the hill, and after only stopping 6 laps earlier, the #99 charged on, though this saw the eventual winner gain a 13-second fuel advantage over the Erebus duo.

Brodie and Dave ended up leading a total of 38 laps, though they couldn’t do enough to beat the Kiwis at the end.

Jack handed the car back to Will on lap 84 in 11th place and from there Will soldiered forward to secure a top ten position for car #9, crossing the line P8.

Erebus and Brodie continue to lead the Team’s and Driver’s Championships as they head to the Gold Coast 500 in just over two weeks time, 27 – 29 October.
