Brodie Kostecki and his team Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus have extended their points lead after taking second on the streets of Surfers Paradise today.

Brodie, who has claimed this year’s Pole Champion Award, made it eight pole positions so far this season with a stellar performance in the Top Ten Shootout.

Will Brown set the fastest time of the pair in Qualifying, though tapped the tyre barrier at the first chicane, and recorded a lap good enough for P8 on the grid.

From the start, Brodie was off to a flyer and quickly built a margin over Over David Reynolds.

Will took his first compulsory pit stop on lap 27, while Brodie immediately followed for fuel and fresh rubber.

The race got going from the final round of stops – Will again stopping on lap 55, while Brodie came in for the final time two laps later.

Brodie led majority of the laps, though the battle was fierce with David Reynolds, who re-joined ahead of the #99 Camaro on lap 58 with an overcut.

The Championship leader was not giving up though and took the lead back with 14 laps to go, though he slipped wide two laps later and unfortunately handed it back.

Brodie again attacked the rear of Reynolds though the #26 driver controversially continued to straight-line the front chicane in the final laps to try keep any margin.

It was the closest competitive 1-2 finish ever seen on the Gold Coast, as Brodie scored the team’s 63^rdchampionship podium.

Brodie has extended his championship lead out to 131 points, with Erebus now 170-points ahead of Triple Eight Race Engineering.

The championship decider is at the Adelaide 500, November 23-26.
