Sunday in Taupō greeted the team with clear skies and the good news continued as Brodie secured P8 and Jack P9 in Qualifying, earning the team a coveted double Top Ten Shootout berth for the first time in 2024.
Brodie set a blistering 1:26.8479 lap, placing the #1 Camaro into 3rd on the grid, while Jack in the #9, secured P6 with a time of 1:27.2891.
As the race commenced under welcome clear skies, Brodie slipped one position on the opening lap to ADP, settling into 4th, while Jack maintained 6th. Both drivers opted for extended fuel stops on lap 21, rejoining the race in 10th and 11th positions respectively.
On lap 27, Jack caught Davison, advancing to 8th, while Brodie held onto 7th. However, as Jack’s tires began to degrade he lost position to a charging Mostert, before pitting on lap 39. Like Saturday’s race, he encountered traffic during re-entry, relegating him to P18.
Brodie followed suit to stop on the next lap, but a fumbled stop with a stripped nut on the front left cost precious time in the lane, rejoining in 17th.
Jack climbed back to 7th by lap 47, but was caught by Heimgartner with his eyes on the JR Trophy on lap 56. Meanwhile, Brodie had made ground back up to 9th before being caught by Waters on the penultimate lap.
Post-race, Brodie was slapped with a 5-second penalty for contact with Stanaway in the dying stages, ultimately dropping the #1 Camaro to P12, while Jack secured P8.
The combined points from the weekend were enough to propel Erebus from 5th to 3rd in the Teams Championship standings.
We head to Perth only 102 points off Penrite Racing and determined to move back up the lane.
