Academy drivers Jarrod Hughes and Jobe Stewart took to the track at Phillip Island on Monday to complete another rookie test day ahead of Round 4 of the Dunlop Super2 Series.

Having not raced at Phillip Island since 2019, it was important that both drivers were given the opportunity to get up to speed with the track and its features.

In preparation, Hughes and Stewart took turns on the recently upgraded simulator at Erebus Motorsport’s headquarters.

“We were able to use the latest Quest 3 Virtual Reality Headset and our close to real life cockpit to give Jobe and Jarrod a fully immersive experience, our focus was on braking points and style, and we were able to match data from previous drivers qualifying times” said Engineer Wayne Mackie

This advanced simulator session helped both drivers hit the ground running at the recently resurfaced Grand Prix Circuit and dial in the set up for their test day.

Carrying on from their simulator training, they completed one lap runs, focusing on discipline and accuracy.

This combined rookie test and simulator session helps provide focus for Jobe and Jarrod as they look ahead to Round 4 at Sandown on the 13th – 15th of September.
